This diagram shows my revisions on the initial and very basic drawing of the BitTorrent network that I presented at last week's pinup. The initial diagram was misleading - it implied that all peers log on to "something else" to share data...
However, the network is created by the connections between peers, as shown in the most recent abstraction. Connections between peers that are sharing the same data form a data swarm - a technical term as well as an accurate description of the swarm of connections, if visualised.
