Craigslist's office consists of only 23 employees -- this small scale, along with the elimination of business development, marketing, PR, advertising, etc, means that the company answers only to the public. The simplicity of operations allows Craigslist to maintain its policy of no-fee postings for everyday users, which explains why Craigslist has such a huge community and virtually no competitors.
