This interface to a digital mixing board is a complex reproduction of the mixing equipment that recording studios use, or did use before this technology. Sampling, filtering, modulating and pasting have taken the place of the tangible connection between an instrument and the player. The vibration of a viola is hard to replicate using a mouse. To rethink the way the musical interface can connect, mechanically an emotionally, is the next step in collaborative music.
